MASTER 5 course for November/December 2010 added to calendar 

ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display Information System) This course is in the process of being approved by Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) to be run at The Navigation Centre in 2011.  As soon as dates and prices for the course become available, it will be posted onto this web page.  (last updated 20th August 2010)

COURSE HOURS:  0830hrs to 1630hrs Monday to Friday (we do not run courses on public holidays)

CLASSROOM LOCATION: Courses are taught at our classroom:

ENROL:  Ring Cairns TAFE on 1300 656 959 (press 2 for enrolments).  Make sure you advise the staff that you want to do the course in Townsville.  We are contractors for The Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE - Cairns.  TAFE Cairns look after the paperwork.....we do the teaching in TOWNSVILLE.   

WE DO PROVIDE:  Our classroom is equipped with a fridge & freezer, microwave, cutlery, tea/coffee cups, coffee, sugar & milk.  For courses we provide, hearing protection, high visibility vests, hard hats, life raft and life jackets.

WE DO NOT PROVIDE:  Cold drinks, meals, snacks, sunscreen, sun hats, sun glasses, towels, covered clothing for engine room/slipway visits, safety boots or navigation equipment.

WHAT TO BRING: For all courses you will need to bring PEN, PENCIL, ERASER, RULER.  

            Coxswain: Parallel ruler, compass/divider set, calculator, Small Ships Manual latest edition (5th edition), Taskbook. 
            MED 3: Covered shoes, long sleeve shirt, long pants (for engine room work), Taskbook.
            Elements of Shipboard Safety:  Towel, swimwear, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat.
            Marine Radio:  Marine Radio Operators Handbook $49.00 (2009 edition), colour passport photo, $56.00 for your licence & exam.
            Master 5: Parallel ruler, compass/divider set, calculator, The Australian Boating Manual latest edition (4th edition), Taskbook. 

WHAT TO WEAR:  Covered footwear, neat casual clothing, no singlets, no thongs

TRAINING VESSEL:  Our training vessel "RIOLI" is ready for students to do their practical assessments on.  Click on RIOLI to see photos of the vessel.  If you need to do your practical assessment, why not get a group together and hire the boat for a week (or as many days as needed).  Contact us for a quote info@thenavigationcentre.com.au
